Especially beneficial for First Time Mums, VBAC's or families really looking for Continuity of Care who didn't receive it last time. Your Doula will meet with you 4 times throughout your pregnancy (generally after 20 weeks) to discuss your birth and to guide you through the magical journey ahead, including the benefits, risks and alternatives for each of the decisions you will have.
o You will learn about each stage of labour and how to best support your body along with what your partner can do
o You will develop a birth plan you're comfortable with, using unbiased research supplied to you by your doula.
o You will practise/learn labour techniques to assist you during each stage of your birth.
o You will have free access to our library of books and DVD's.
o You will have access to our hire equipment incl. Labour Tens Machines and Birth Pool for Homebirths (Discounts apply) .
o You will have 24/7 phone/email access to chat to your doula prior to your birth from 37weeks.
o Your Doula will be on call for you for up to 5 weeks from 37-42+ weeks and ready to support you both and then come to you when required to stay home as long as possible or meet you at your chosen location of birth.
o During early labour your doula will be able to provide any support over the phone at home or your chosen place of birth (if medical induction is absolutely necessary) and can come and remain with you providing you and your partner with support, keeping you both informed, as well as creating a beautiful birth environment.
o You will be able to access your preferred aromatherapy, herbal tinctures, robozo, massage, music, hot and cold pain relief, physical assistance with birthing positions including the birth pool/bath.
o Photographs capturing your birth story (if possible and with permission) Labour & both parents with baby at birth.
o Your Doula will offer you and your partner light snacks and drinks as required so you can focus on relaxing, enjoying your time and working hard in labour.
o Your Doula will remain by your side throughout the entire labour (in the event of an epidural, this may create space for a break), birth and post-natally, ensuring you are nourished and restored in your Golden Hours, skin to skin and potentially first feed. Leaving you when you want privacy to deeply connect as a new family.
o Your Doula will create a safe environment where you feel nurtured and secure to make informed, empowered decisions.
Geelong & Surfcoast Doula Services also offers the reassurance of having a back up Doula on call at no extra charge in case your Doula is delayed or unable to attend your birth for any unforeseen reason. You will meet this Doula during your visits so you will be familiar with her and she will have a complete understanding of your needs and a copy of your Birth Map/Plan.
o Following your birth your Doula will return for a post birth appointment to debrief your birth and to connect you to local Lactation Consultants, Pelvic Floor Therapists and any other resources who can support your early parenting experience.
